FREEDOM RINGS 1776 is a conservative voice, defending the views of those who still believe in the constitution and opposing any and all who would lead us from our tried and true beliefs. We who still believe in the spirit of 1776 must oppose anyone who would set this nation on a course that will fundamentally transform America.

IS OUR FLAG OFFENSIVE? Submitted by Shannon Ward

This is  the reasoning behind the question:

Breitbart ... March 6, 2015

On March 3, 2015 the student members passed a resolution to ban the American Flag from the common area on the college campus of Irvine, CA  Matthew Guevera wrote: “The American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism,” he bemoaned. “Flags not only serve as symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism, but also construct cultural mythologies and narratives that in turn charge nationalistic sentiments.”

BLAZING A NEW TRAIL - Submitted by Shannon Ward

This is the launch of a journey that I am both looking forward to with excitement and with trepidation. I love history, politics, literature. Writing about things that influence who we are is a responsibility that I approach very seriously. I do not pretend to be 'politically correct' because I am not. I love the country of my birth. I have always been proud of my country, but not so proud of some of our leaders. They represent not the country founded on the Judeo/Christian principles but serve their own agenda, and in service to their personal goals have done extensive damage to the dreams of our Founders and the efforts of our people.

If you have read Part Two of this series you are aware of the fact that many of the weapons intended to be used in the overthrow of the Gaddafi regime in Libya were diverted by Qatar and used to kill Americans in Afghanistan. They say that war has a thousand faces, most of them tragic. To die in any war is a tragedy. To die accidentally, the victim of 'friendly fire' still more tragic. But, I can think of no greater tragedy than to die at the hand of our enemies, using our own weapons against us; weapons that were provided to them by a nation that is recognized as one of our allies. Many of our people are aware of the fact that something is terribly twisted and evil in the political arena and yet are helpless to do anything about it. Consequently they are dropping out, intentionally choosing not to know, hoping that it will all just go away.

We live in a time when deluding the masses is far more important than telling them the truth. It is a time when our allies are subjected to ridicule and punished for behaving with honor, and when the very meaning of honor has been abandoned in the pursuit of an Orwellian reality, which is an unreality unto itself. Gone are the days when political leaders of the west are held accountable for their actions. Were that to be the case, today many would be tried for treason and jailed. Instead we have a complicit media and a system of bread and circus that has lulled the populace into a state of apathy, living only for today and too fearful of tomorrow to look behind the curtain.

I had thought, hoped, that I had finished writing about Benghazi, but alas, that is not meant to be. Daily, new evidence is emerging that validates my earlier theory about what truly occurred there, a theory that I have long hoped was in error as the implications of it are so sordid that it has cost me all of the faith that I once had in the human race. In light of the now emerging evidence I must once again address the issue as there is much that must be understood by all with the courage and intestinal fortitude to grasp that truth, and the long term implications of that truth; for the world as we know is being reshaped by people seeking absolute power and the future looks awfully dim.

Prior to Obama first assuming the office of the Presidency several political pundits and news commentators discussed the possibility of George W. Bush launching an airstrike against Iran's nuclear facilities during this final days in office. After all, any sensible person knew that Iran had to be stopped, and in doing so Bush would have done a great service to all of mankind, especially the United States and Israel. True, those pundits were well aware of the political fallout and the ensuing attacks from our left wing politicians, but with George Bush retiring and Obama assuming the throne that attack would soon have been old news and the world could have breathed much easier. Unfortunately those experts were mistaken; Bush did nothing; and Obama was soon cuddling up with the Ayatollahs, leading us to the nightmare scenario we face today.

Many have often compared our future to Rome's past and for good reason. History is once again repeating itself as the human race never seems to learn from past mistakes. This is perhaps due to the fact that most spend more time in their pursuit of pleasure and their own self interests than in seeking knowledge of where we have been, and associating that with where we are going. In past writings I have often invoked the forest and the trees analogy as that seems to be one of our major stumbling blocks. Our citizens, by and large, cannot see beyond their most immediate concerns leaving them unable to grasp the big picture. Most people are far more concerned with the cost of gasoline and beef than the fact that Iran is on the verge of becoming a nuclear nation and that we are living under a daily threat of yet another 911.
